Macedon, NY (August 25, 2009) - Kyle had a very successful WERA weekend at the Cycle Jam nationals at Virginia International Raceway. Teaming up with Jason DiSalvo for the WERA National Endurance series posed a challenge for two riders who had never competed in an endurance before. The goal was to finish the race, keep the bike on two wheels, and gain a wealth of experience with plenty of track time on the 2.25 mile circuit. They would compete on a Team Hammer M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R 600.
By the end of the 4 hour race, ‘Team America’ (DiSalvo/Wyman) found themselves at the top of the order, taking home the win in the Middleweight Superstock class with a 4 lap advantage over the second place finishers.
“I really have to give all of my thanks to John and Chris Ulrich for allowing us to ride their bike in the endurance race. It was such a great experience and really ramped me up for the following AMA weekend. My Dad and the Wikle family helped out a ton as well, so tons of credit to them too.”
The WERA Cycle Jam weekend was followed by the AMA Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals:
Kyle’s AMA weekend went almost perfectly to plan. The goal for WBR was a top 5 for Kyle; his long string of bad luck has hindered his ability to finish well in prior races, and VIR set the stage for a great event. After qualifying 6th for the race, Kyle was in 5th position on lap two when the transmission kicked into a false neutral during downshifts into turn one, which put him into the grass and back to last position before re-entering the race surface. Kyle picked his way back through the pack to finish a very respectable 8th position after 18 long laps. “It happens,” said Wyman, “I just need to keep my head down and keep pushing forward. Hopefully by the last round of the season we’ll have all of our bad luck spoken for, which is good because we have some news to announce soon about New Jersey!”
