Wyman Caps Off Successful Week at Daytona

WBR Garage at Daytona
Kyle's trip down south started at Jennings GP with testing which would be followed by a CCS club race event at Daytona. The weekend was used mainly for track time on the high banks of the "racing capital of the world," but he was able to come away with top 10 qualifying position and an 8th place finish in the Factory Pro Sportbike class. This finish helped spark some confidence going into the pro national.

Just one year from the week of his first ever road race, Kyle put his Yamaha YZF-R6 in the top five of his first ever AMA Pro Road Racing National event at Daytona International Speedway. After learning the new configuration "short course" he came away qualifying 6th fastest on Wednesday for the Thursday afternoon 35 mile race.   After 12 long laps, Kyle found himself in 4th position crossing the stripe.

"It got a little crazy on the start. There was a lot bumping and banging going on in turn one," he comments after two riders went down after a collision on the start. "It was kind of a survival game for the first few corners, but once we were able to clear the infield, it was time to go."

Wyman was able to stick in the top 5 for the majority of the race and had a fairly uneventful ride after the incidents on lap 1.

"My goal was a top five," said the ex-dirt tracker, "And it feels good to have the first round out of the way with all the tension that surrounds Daytona."

The AMA Pro Supersport class is separated into two regions, East & West, so the result at Daytona puts Wyman in 3rd place for the Championship. The next round in the series will take place at Road Atlanta on April 3-5.

Familiar with the track, Kyle hopes to put the Harv's Harley-Davidson Racing R6 on the podium.
