CHECK OUT THE NEW WBR GEAR
Two Brothers Set to Compete in AMA Pro Supersport at Mid-Ohio
Macedon, NY (July 13, 2009) – The AMA Pro Supersport grid will include not one but two of the total three Wyman Brothers of the WBR race team. Though Kyle has been competing since Daytona, Travis , 17, will make his AMA Pro Supersport debut at this weekend’s event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Travis, former member of the 2008 Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup, hopped on a 600 in the beginning of this year and is ready to take it to the pro level. “I can’t wait to get out there at Mid-Ohio. School is out now and I’ve been watching all my former team mates from last year competing in Supersport this season and am looking forward to joining my brother and them on the grid this weekend.” He will be competing on a Suzuki GSX-R600 while Kyle continues his efforts on the Yamaha YZF R6. Macedon, New York (June 8th, 2009) - Kyle Wyman had an abrupt end to his weekend when a mechanical took him out of the AMA Supersport race on Sunday. Wyman was running in 4th place when his Yamaha YZF-R6 started showing symptoms of a soon-to-be blown transmission.
"I really had a terrible start; I was about 12th or so going into turn one," said the New Yorker. "There was a whole lot of bumping and banging going on in turn 3 and 5 and everything worked out to where I found myself in 4th going up the hill into turn six. I started noticing a noise in 4th gear throughout the lap. As it worsened I just kept on it until lap two going into turn five the thing just exploded during my downshifts. I had to pull off the side as I saw flames creeping up my leg."
After qualifying 8th, Wyman was credited with 19th place. "I was really bummed. I felt much stronger than I had all weekend and was looking forward to a really fun race," said Wyman. "We'll just keep pushing forward until Mid-Ohio. I've never ridden there, so I'm really looking forward to learning another track."
After an eventful weekend at Barber, Kyle is ready to climb back up the points standings in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin this weekend. He dropped from 2nd to 5th place after a 14th place finish, but hopes to ride back up into the top 5 at the longest track on the circuit at 4.048 miles.
Kyle has never ridden at this particular track, so the Thursday test day should be a productive one, learning all 14 corners of the circuit and getting the bike set up with Crew Chief Don Finelli. Notorious for its stagnant downpours, Elkhart Lake can promise some rain riding at some point in the weekend. It should be an interesting race for riders and fans alike! With the longest break of the season, Kyle hasn’t slowed down a bit. Motocrossing and Supermoto riding have been the main focus in the past two weeks with school wrapping up and the sun coming out. Now with his Spring semester behind him, he can focus more on fitness and on the next round at Road America! Kyle’s most recent venture was over to Batavia International Motor Speedway for a Supermoto track day, a perfect facility for loads of track time and friendly people.
